You can have a Kampai wine tasting almost anytime (we tend to draw the line at before midday, but that’s just us).
Seriously though, the timing of a Kampai wine tasting is flexible and designed to meet your needs. We find many people choose to hold a wine tasting in the late afternoon or early evening, however it will really be guided by the availability of you and your friends.
Before confirming the time of your tasting, your Kampai Wine Guide will discuss the options with you, to deliver a great wine tasting experience!
What better place to get your friends together and enjoy sharing wine than in the comfort of your own home?!
The perfect setting for your Kampai wine tasting might be in your living room, on your back patio, by the pool or around your kitchen. Wherever you and your friends feel most comfortable is fine with us.
You’ll need around 10 friends to hold a Kampai wine tasting. We find that groups of between 10-15 people work best, sharing wine is much more fun in a social group atmosphere, and this size strikes a good balance between having fun and giving you the opportunity to learn more about the wines you are trying.
For a great Kampai experience, invite a group of your friends who have an interest in tasting (and drinking!) wine.
A Kampai wine tasting is designed to demystify wine in a fun, relaxed environment, so whether your friends are new to wine or long time wine lovers, at a Kampai wine tasting there is no barrier to enjoying great wine.
Don’t worry if your friends don’t know each other. A Kampai wine tasting creates a fun, warm and relaxed environment, making it the perfect ice breaker. Those who don’t know each other will be great mates by the end of the tasting!
The tasting lasts for 2 hours, including set up and packing up afterwards.
Your Kampai Wine Guide will talk with you in detail before your tasting to ensure that it runs smoothly, so that you and your guests can focus on having a fabulous time! On the day, your Wine Guide will arrive before your guests to set everything up for the tasting.
At a minimum, we ask hosts to provide water and plain crackers for the tasting. Plugging in your iPod and setting the scene with some tunes also creates a great atmosphere!
You can do as much or as little as you like! For example, you may like to serve a glass of sparkling with some nibbles before the tasting or serve some simple finger food afterwards. Or you may like to keep the tasting simple by serving crackers only and then have dinner afterwards. Whatever you decide, your Kampai Wine Guide can provide lots of suggestions from simple to sophisticated - you can even check out the Kampai Community section on our website for some great ideas for food and wine matching, ranging from simple to spectacular!
Four wines are provided for a group of 10 people. As the group gets larger, more wines may be added to the tasting.
We open fresh bottles for every tasting and at the end of the tasting, we’ll leave you with any remaining wine to finish off and enjoy. (No fighting over leftovers please).
If you would like to add more wines to your tasting you can do that easily by purchasing them from Kampai beforehand. For example, you may want to taste three whites and three reds. Or serve your friends a glass of sparkling before the tasting to ‘warm up’ the crowd (and their taste buds). Your Kampai wine guide will chat with you before your tasting and bring along any extra wines you'd like to add - easy!
The Kampai cellar is well stocked with delicious wines from some of Australia’s best boutique wineries, including wines that are organic, biodynamic and wines that are hard to find outside of the cellar door. The hardest part is choosing which wines to try at the tasting!
Before your tasting we’ll have a chat about the styles of wines you and your friends enjoy and would most like to try. Based on this we’ll suggest a tasting selection for you that your friends will love. We’re here to make wine fun and enjoyable!
Your Kampai wine tasting will include a guided discovery of selected wines from the Kampai cellar. As we taste the wines, you will hear about the different grape varieties, learn about wine regions in Australia and get some great suggestions on which foods work well with each wine. If you wish to run regular Kampai wine tastings, we will bring a different selection of wines each time, and can offer different experiences each time, for example with an emphasis on food and wine matching, discovering Australia's wine regions, or for the experienced amongst you, a blind wine tasting! Our aim is to keep it real with no wine speak and plenty of practical tips that help you get the most out of enjoying wine.
A Kampai wine tasting costs you nothing! Should we repeat that? No...you probably got it the first time.
At the end of the tasting, your Kampai wine guide will take orders for any of the wines tasted, or you can order from the entire Kampai wine list. Our wines are all listed in the Kampai Cellar, which is well stocked with delicious wines from some of Australia’s best boutique wineries. Many of our customers choose to join the Kampai Wine Club which delivers a carefully selected mixed case of wines to your door every 3 months. This is a great way to keep discovering delicious new wines well after your tasting!
There’s nothing fun and relaxing about a pushy salesperson. Or worse still - a pushy salesperson in your own home!!
That’s not Kampai. Our aim is provide you and your friends with a wine experience you will love. We do this by creating a relaxed atmosphere where your guests can taste quality wines and learn practical wine basics at the same time.
Think of it as a cellar door in your own home - where you can try before you buy. Yes, we sell wine and at the end of the tasting we will ask you and your friends if you’d like to order any that tickled your fancy. The good news here is that the wine is excellent quality and definitely not overpriced (in fact they are fantastic value). There is no pressure, no cheesy sales gimmicks or embarrassing references to “host rewards”. Just great wines, a fun learning experience and the opportunity to buy wine if you fancy.
